Campground

  1. The 2008 CAMPING CHECK IN TIME IS 3PM, CHECK OUT TIME IS 1PM. DUE TO THE RESERVATION SYSTEM, THESE TIMES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!

  2. A limited number of sites will still be available on a first come, first serve basis.

  3. Campers may register for more than one site. Total fees for the first night for all sites rented must be paid in full at the time of registration. A Golden Buckeye Cardholder may only use the discount for one site.

  4. Please post camping receipt on lot marker, so that other campers will know that the site is not available.

  5. Two tents, with a maximum combined floor space of less than 200 sq. ft. and a dining/screen tent are permitted on each site. The Ottawa County Health Department requires 10' spacing between tents/campers on different sites and 5' between campers/tents on the same site.

  6. Juvenile campers must be with their parents, or must provide written permission from their parents, which includes full names and address of the parent or guardian along with a telephone number where they can be reached at all times.

  7. A maximum of six persons are permitted per campsite; 14 day limit out of a 30 day period.

  8. One picnic table and one fire ring are provided per lot.

  9. Fires are permitted only in the fire rings. Please do not move the fire rings.

  10. Fish cleaning and disposal of fish remains must be done at the fish cleaning station at the boat ramp.

  11. Pets are permitted in designated areas only. Pets must be kept on a leash (6 ft. maximum length). Please clean up after your pet at all times in all areas of the park. Pets are not permitted in the restrooms, playgrounds, shower houses, camp store, or Lake Erie swimming beach area. Do not leave your pet unattended even for just an hour. Proof of rabies vaccination, for pets, must be available if requested.

  12. Shower houses are cleaned daily. Please use another campground facility when a shower house is closed.

  13. Visiting hours are 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. only.

  14. Quiet hours start at 10 p.m. (unless posted differently because of programs/holidays...)

  15. All refuse must be placed in the provided dumpsters. Please, do not leave litter in fire rings or at campsite.

  16. All vehicles and campers must remain on the roads and campsite pads provided for such. One boat trailer and trailer per lot as long as it fits on the paved pad. Extra boats and trailers must be parked in a designated boat trailer parking area. Extra vehicles must be parked in the Visitor's parking lot.

  17. All vehicles must display a valid car pass to enter the campground. One vehicle per site except that two are permitted on pull through sites.  Only one boat permitted per camp site.

  18. For the safety of children, please observe speed limits.

  19. Park rules and all State laws are enforced by the Park Officers. Should problems arise, please notify someone at the camp store, Ranger office or dial 911 day or night.

  20. Intoxicating beverages shall not be overtly or publicly consumed or displayed.

  21. Metal detectors are permitted on sand beaches only.

  22. The Nature Center is open for anyone who wishes to visit and everyone is invited to take part in the programs and nature hikes. Schedules listing the times of the programs are posted throughout the campground.

  23. We appreciate your efforts to keep the area clean and quiet.

  24. When leaving the Park please drop old registration tag into the "Drop Box" at the exit.

Hunting & Trapping

NO HUNTING WILL BE ALLOWED PRIOR TO OCTOBER 15 IN ANY AREAS.
HUNTING IS ALLOWED ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS.

DUCK BLIND INFORMATION:

  1. There are five designated duck blind areas at East Harbor. A public drawing will be held for these blinds on Saturday, August 16, 2008. Registration will begin at 7:00 AM at the park office.  The drawing will be held at 8:00 AM after all applicants are registered. Applicants must be present at the drawing to get a blind. If selected, the cost for a duck blind is a non-refundable fee of $50.00.
     

  2. Only the person who holds the duck blind permit or their designee will use the assigned blind. Written permission from the blind holder is required for the designee.
     

  3. All shooting from the blinds will be directed over water, not into any ponds or land areas behind the blinds.
     

  4. All blinds in East Harbor may be accessed by boat from either the campground boat ramp or the causeway along the north shore of East Harbor after Labor Day. You will need your duck permit to gain access into the campground.
     

  5. You are allowed to walk into the blind from the south beach parking lot, but ALL WEAPONS must be unloaded and in a case when going to and from the blind. No vehicles will be allowed on trails except by permission of park staff.
     

  6. Lottery winners have 45 days to construct their blinds. All blinds must be dismantled by March 15, 2009.

GENERAL HUNTING INFORMATION:

  1. There is no hunting allowed from the East Harbor or West Harbor channel or jetties.
     

  2. The rock islands off the north beach area are open to hunting, but hunters may only shoot in the direction of the lake. No shooting is allowed behind the islands toward land. This area is a safety zone. The Rock Islands are accessible by boat only.
     

  3. Layout boats and float boats may be used in East and West Harbors, but there is a 400ft minimum safety zone from all land. Hunters must take extreme caution in avoiding the duck blinds and the park hiking trails, campground and adjacent private property.

Pet Camping Rules

  1. Only domestic cats and dogs are permitted in designated areas of the campgrounds. Rule 1501: 41-3-07. When "C" area is open for camping, no pets are permitted in "A" and "B" areas. (Exception: Handicap sites in "B" area)
     

  2. All animals must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. The leash can be No more than 6 feet in length. Rule 1501: 41-3-06
     

  3. The owner or handler of a domestic dog or cat must clean up and place in a rubbish receptacle any excrement left by their pet in the camp area. Rule 1501: 41-9-10A
     

  4. The washing of any animal at a water fountain, water pump, or swimming area is prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-9-10B
     

  5. Bringing any domestic animal into any enclosed camping area structure is prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-9-10C
     

  6. Any domestic animal brought into a camp area must have proof of a rabies inoculation and a collar or tag bearing the owner's name and address attached to the animal. Rule 1501: 41-9-10D
     

  7. Do not stake any domestic dog or cat in such a manner in which the pet infringes on a neighboring campsite or interferes with or menaces a passersby. Rule 1501: 41-9-10E
     

  8. Leaving any domestic dog or cat unattended is prohibited.
    Rule 1501: 41-9-10F
     

  9. Having more than two domestic dogs or cats on one campsite is prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-9-10G
     

  10. Animals which disturb the peace and quiet of others are prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-3-08
     

  11. A Park Officer may direct any animal, which disturbs the peace and quiet and/or is menacing toward others, to be removed by the owner or handler from any area administered by the Division. Rule 1501: 41-3-08
     

  12. The owner, keeper, or harbored of a dog is liable in damages for any injury, or loss to person or property that is caused by the dog. O.R.C. Section 955.28(B)
     

  13. There are special laws regarding dangerous or vicious dogs as defined by the Ohio Revised Code. Section 955.22 O.R.C.
