Campground/Park
1. Park rules
and all State laws are enforced by the Park Officers.
Should problems arise, please notify someone at the camp store
during business hours, or after hours call 419-734-9545. In case of
emergency, call 911.

CHECK IN TIME is 3PM
- CHECK OUT TIME is 1PM (Please be courteous to other
campers)
3.
A limited number of sites will be available
on a walk-in basis.
4.
Campers may register for more than one site. Total fees for the sites
must be paid in full at the time of registration. If the person
registering is a Golden Buckeye Cardholder, the GBC
discount is only given for one site, regardless of how many
sites being rented.
5. Please post
the camping receipt on the lot marker so that other campers will know the
site is not available.
6.
Two camping units and a dining/screen tent are permitted on each site,
with maximum combined floor space less than 200 square feet.
Ottawa County Health Department requires 10’ spacing between
tents/campers on different sites and 5’ between campers/tents on the
same site.
7.
Juvenile campers must be with their
parents, or must provide written permission from their parents, which
includes full names and address of the parent or guardian
along with a telephone number where they can be reached at all times.
8.
A maximum of six persons are permitted
per campsite; Occupancy is a 14 day limit out of a 30 day period.
9.
One picnic table and one fire ring are
provided per lot
10. Fires
are permitted only in the fire rings. Please do not move the fire
rings.
11.
Fish cleaning and disposal of fish remains
must be done at the fish cleaning station located near the boat ramp.
12.
Pets are permitted in designated areas
only. Pets must be kept on a leash (6ft. maximum length).
Please clean up after your pet at all times in all areas
of the park. Pets are not permitted in the restrooms,
playgrounds, shower houses, camp store, or on the Lake Erie
swimming beach area. Leaving your pet unattended even for just
an hour is prohibited. Proof of rabies vaccination, for pets, must
be available if requested.
13.
Shower houses are cleaned daily. Please
use another campground facility when a shower house is closed.
14. Quiet hours
start at 10:00pm (Unless posted
differently because of programs/holidays...)
15.
All refuse must be placed in the provided
dumpsters. Please, do not leave litter in fire rings or at campsite
upon departure.
16.
All vehicles and campers must remain on the
roads and campsite pads provided for such.
One boat and trailer per lot as long as it fits on the
paved pad. Extra boats and trailers must be parked in a designated
boat trailer parking area. Extra vehicles must be parked in
the Visitor’s parking lot.
17.
All vehicles must display a valid
car pass to enter the campground. One vehicle per site except that two
are permitted on pull through sites.
18.
For the safety of all campers and visitors,
please observe the speed limit of 10 MPH everywhere in the
campground.
19. Intoxicating
beverages shall not be publicly consumed or displayed.
20.
Metal detectors are permitted on sand
beaches only.
21.
The Nature Center is open to the public
during posted hours. Everyone is invited to take part in the
programs and nature hikes. Schedules listing the
times of the programs are posted throughout the campground.
22. Riding or
permitting others to ride on the tailgate of a vehicle is in violation of
Ohio Revised Code section 4511.51.
23.
Riding or permitting others to ride in
or on a watercraft or trailer while it is being towed on a roadway is also
prohibited.
24.
We appreciate your efforts to keep the area
clean and quiet.

Hunting &
Trapping
NO HUNTING WILL BE
ALLOWED PRIOR TO OCTOBER 15 IN ANY AREAS.
HUNTING IS ALLOWED ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS.
DUCK BLIND INFORMATION:

There are five designated duck
blind areas at East Harbor. A public drawing will be held for these blinds
on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Registration will begin at 7:00 AM at the
park office. The
drawing will be held at 8:00 AM after all applicants are registered. Applicants must
be present at the drawing to get a blind. If selected, the cost for a duck
blind is a non-refundable fee of $50.00. CONTACT THE PARK TO DETERMINE

Only the person who holds the
duck blind permit or their designee will use the assigned blind. Written
permission from the blind holder is required for the designee.

All shooting from the blinds
will be directed over water, not into any ponds or land areas behind the
blinds.
-
All blinds in East Harbor may
be accessed by boat from either the campground boat ramp or the causeway
along the north shore of East Harbor after Labor Day. You will need your
duck permit to gain access into the campground.

You are allowed to walk into
the blind from the south beach parking lot, but ALL WEAPONS must be
unloaded and in a case when going to and from the blind. No vehicles will
be allowed on trails except by permission of park staff.

Lottery winners have 45 days
to construct their blinds. All blinds must be dismantled by March 15,
2011.
GENERAL HUNTING
INFORMATION:
-
There is no hunting allowed
from the East Harbor or West Harbor channel or jetties.
-
The rock islands off the north
beach area are open to hunting, but hunters may only shoot in the
direction of the lake. No shooting is allowed behind the islands toward
land. This area is a safety zone. The Rock Islands are accessible by boat
only.
-
Layout boats and float boats
may be used in East and West Harbors, but there is a 400ft minimum safety
zone from all land. Hunters must take extreme caution in avoiding the duck
blinds and the park hiking trails, campground and adjacent private
property.

Pet Camping Rules
-
Only domestic cats and dogs
are permitted in designated areas of the campgrounds. Rule 1501: 41-3-07.
When "C" area is open for camping, no pets are permitted in "A" and "B"
areas. (Exception: Handicap sites in "B" area)

All animals must be kept on a
leash and under control at all times. The leash can be No more than 6 feet
in length. Rule 1501: 41-3-06

The owner or handler of a
domestic dog or cat must clean up and place in a rubbish receptacle any
excrement left by their pet in the camp area. Rule 1501: 41-9-10A

The washing of any animal at a
water fountain, water pump, or swimming area is prohibited. Rule 1501:
41-9-10B

Bringing any domestic animal
into any enclosed camping area structure is prohibited. Rule 1501:
41-9-10C

Any domestic animal brought
into a camp area must have proof of a rabies inoculation and a collar or
tag bearing the owner's name and address attached to the animal. Rule
1501: 41-9-10D
-
Do not stake any domestic dog
or cat in such a manner in which the pet infringes on a neighboring
campsite or interferes with or menaces a passersby. Rule 1501: 41-9-10E

Leaving any domestic dog or
cat unattended is prohibited.

Having more than two domestic
dogs or cats on one campsite is prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-9-10G

Animals which disturb the
peace and quiet of others are prohibited. Rule 1501: 41-3-08
-
A Park Officer may direct any
animal, which disturbs the peace and quiet and/or is menacing toward
others, to be removed by the owner or handler from any area administered
by the Division. Rule 1501: 41-3-08
-
The owner, keeper, or harbored
of a dog is liable in damages for any injury, or loss to person or
property that is caused by the dog. O.R.C. Section 955.28(B)

There are special laws
regarding dangerous or vicious dogs as defined by the Ohio Revised Code.
